FTE has recently been selected as part of the design team with HKS for the New Athletic Performance Building and will be responsible for the design of the indoor synthetic turf playing field and two additional outdoor natural turf playing fields. Project is currently on-going. This is a multi-phased project.
FTE was retained by the Florida Atlantic University groundskeeper and the athletic department for a complete playing field performance analyses and recommendation for the necessary improvements for the following athletic fields:
The results of the findings clearly demonstrated that the stadium playing field required minor modification to allow for lowering the center line of the crown of the playing field surface to the original grades. The recommendation to remove approximately 4”-5” of the top soils and re-sodding was recommend and completed prior to the 2016 season. The two football practice fields clearly demonstrate complete system failure. The results of the field boring clearly identified that the original fields was design incorrectly and did not provided the necessary soils and sub-surface drainage collections system. Baseball and Softball fields also denoted some significant surface drainage rates as result of improper design and construction methods. A formal playing field analyses report and estimated cost model was submitted to the University head groundskeeper and the Athletic department for future phase programming improvements.
